Hashna Binte Nahar

Dear GSU Students, Faculty, and Community,

My name is Hashna Binte Nahar. I am currently pursuing an Interdisciplinary PhD in Business, Mathematics & Statistics, and Psychology, and I am honored to stand for Executive Director of Finance in the GSU General Elections 2026.

Over the past year, I have had the privilege of serving as your Executive Director of Finance, and that experience has strengthened my commitment to responsible, accountable, transparent, and student-focused financial leadership. This experience has taught me that financial leadership is not just about numbers. It is about trust, responsibility, transparency, and making sure student money is managed with care.

When I first took on this role, one of my main priorities was to understand the reasons behind the GSU’s financial challenges. After reviewing the situation, I worked on a structured loan repayment plan and helped maintain a conservative budget so we could reduce financial risk and respond more carefully to rising expenses. I also worked to ensure greater transparency in financial matters so that students could have more confidence in how their fees are being managed.

My background has prepared me well for this role. I have a Master’s in Data Science, a Bachelor’s in Statistics, experience in the banking sector, and previous student leadership experience as a Finance Secretary. Together, these experiences have given me strong skills in budgeting, financial planning, accountability, and practical decision-making.

If I am re-elected, I will continue to focus on the priorities that matter most:

Financial Transparency and Accountability
Students deserve to know how resources are being used. I will continue working toward clear and accessible financial reporting so students understand how resources are being used, timely audit report and  Ensure ongoing investigation will continue and have a result of that.

Responsible and Strategic Budgeting
Last year, we took a careful and conservative approach to budgeting. Moving forward, I want to continue protecting the GSU from unnecessary financial risk while gradually restoring financial services in a responsible and sustainable way.

Long-Term Financial Stability
I will continue strengthening the repayment strategy and improving financial planning so that the GSU can move forward on a more stable and sustainable path.

Student-Centered Financial
Financial decisions should reflect student needs. I want to make sure students continue to have a voice in the financial policies by taking their feedback for planning and decision-making.

This past year has shown me that good financial leadership means planning wisely, being honest and accountable, and always keeping students’ interests at the center of every decision.

I believe the GSU needs leadership that is careful, transparent, accountable, and forward-looking. I am ready to continue that work.

Let us build a financially stable, stronger, more transparent, and student-focused GSU together.

Vote Hashna Binte Nahar for Executive Director of Finance.
