GSU General Election 2020 Announcement

The Graduate Student Union is announcing the 2020 GSU Election period. We thank you all for your patience as we worked on holding these elections during the pandemic. The GSU 2020 Elections will be held online. Nominations are open from June 10-17, and the nomination form can be found on the GSU website (www.gsumun.ca/elections). The campaign period (June 18-24, 2020 - if approved by the Electoral Committee) will conclude with an online Q&A period on Tuesday, June 24, in place of the Annual General Meeting. A link to the meeting will be sent later.


To help promote transparency and communication during this online election, we ask all general members to consider signing up for the GSU General Elections 2020 Brightspace (https://forms.gle/xboUnLbwZpTndVTdA). This will allow candidates to share their campaign platforms with all general members. For more information, please refer to the attached poster and the GSU Website. All candidates are required to be familiar with the active version of the GSU constitution (https://www.gsumun.ca/gsu-constitution) with special consideration given to 6.16. Election Guidelines in Extenuating Circumstances.

Nomination Period for GSU General Elections 2020

For more information about the elections procedure and the positions offered (and their respective duties), kindly review the GSU Constitution.

Following Positions are open for the GSU membership to contest in 2020 general elections:

1. Executive Director of External Affairs (EDEA)

2. Executive Director of Academics (EDA)

3. Executive Director of Finance (EDF)

4. Executive Director of Communications (EDC)

5. Executive Director of Campus Life (EDCL)

6. Senate Representative

7. Board of Regents Representative

8. Two Facility Management Members at Large *

*Members-at-Large: who are General Members and are neither residents of Field Hall Employee of GSU Facility Division or Academic Division, nor Directors of the GSU, whose term shall not exceed one (1) year from his or her date of initiation and who are selected through a majority of vote by General Membership of the GSU.
