Date: Monday, August 2, 2010
Time: 10:00 a.m.

What's this now?
As of August 1, 2009, the interest rate charges on the provincial portion of student loans were eliminated for all new, current and outstanding student loans. Almost 50,000 people are benefitting from the elimination of interest rates. The implementation of this initiative is automatic and no application process required. Newfoundland and Labrador is the only province in the country that has eliminated the interest rate charges on student loans.
The Canadian Federation of Students launched a petition drive in fall 2008 calling on the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador to eliminate the interest rate charges on student loans. In March 2009, students delivered over 12,000-signed petitions to former Minister of Education, Joan Burke. A few weeks later, the provincial government announced the elimination of interest rate charges on the provincial portion of student loans in their 2009 Budget.
Please RSVP by Friday, July 30.

World Cup Semi-Finals and Finals @ Bitters
Tuesday, 06 July 2010 14:47
Hello Football Fans,
After a few weeks of World cup action 32 nations have been whittled down to 4 elite teams! The round of 8 saw the heavily favoured Brazilians fall to the Big Orange Machine, Netherlands, while the equally favoured Argentineans were shocked by a young German squad!
This week we will see the last World Cup action in South Africa with games on Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Uruguay holds the only remaining non-European chance in World Cup facing the undefeated Netherlands. Uruguay will advance to the semi-finals without their top scorer Luis Suarez, who after saving Uruguay’s chances with a vital handball on the goal line against Ghana, will be suspended for the semi-finals. The Netherlands will look to exploit this weakness and cruise through this World Cup undefeated.
Uruguay vs. Netherlands – Tuesday July 5th 3:45pm
Wednesday Spain will look to surpass their best ever showing at the World Cup with and advancement to the finals. The “rebuilding” team Germany has quickly realized that this team is exciting, fast, and much better than anticipated. Will 2nd ranked Spain finally finish off the goal scoring power house Germany? Will Germany continue to better both rank and expectation? Come watch at Bitters and find out!
Germany vs. Spain – Wednesday July 6th 3:45pm
3rd place game to follow Saturday July 10th 3:45pm
