VP Communications Report
Hello Fellow Grads!
In the past few months the GSU executive has implemented many of our goals. I will list some of the projects that I was a part of and how the various committees I sat on went. I will also detail some of the positions that were hired and how they’ve come to assist the GSU.
Minute Taker – she has diligently taken accurate minutes of our BOD meetings as well as digitized the minutes and various reports from 1999 to present.
WebMaster – please see the updated websites; gsumun.ca and bitters.gsumun.ca He has worked hard in making our sites accessible and much more up to date.
Constitution Editor and Aldrich Coordinator – see below committees
Committees:
Constitution Committee: In hiring a Constitutional Editor we have finally been able to review and revise the constitution. There were many missing portions and vague statements throughout the document. We have presented and approved many changes to the By-laws and will be presenting revisions to the Articles at the AGM. The document for our revisions is up on the website, please feel free to read and come to the AGM with any questions.
Aldrich Committee: We have 82 individuals that have submitted abstracts for the upcoming Aldrich Interdisciplinary Conference. We have hired, through GRADSWEP, an organizer for the event who will be finalizing the schedule and be available during the conference. The conference will be held March 27 and 28. I have also been in contact with several departments to discuss getting more people to attend the Aldrich Conference (not just presenters and their supervisors or lab mates). Lastly, as School of Graduate Studies is unable to host a lecturer this year, we are working with local member s of the community to try and pull together either a lecturer or possibly a panel.
External Relations Committee: We are still in progress for getting aid to those impacted by the Haiti earthquake. We have also been in contact with the MUN Disability Center (MUNDisC) and are working with them in their upcoming events.
Executive Meetings: I have attended all but a few (3?) EXCO meetings.
